The many benefits of this therapy can also include an increased feeling of well being, stress relief, improved skin condition, pain reduction and sleep improvement.
Reiki
Reiki is an ancient Japanese spiritual healing technique in which practitioners can help your body heal itself through touch. “Rei” translates to “universe” or “life force,” and “ki” translates to the physical energy of the body (also known as qi); put together, Reiki translates to “universal life force energy.”
During a Reiki session while lying on a massage couch, fully clothed and covered with a sheet and/or blankets, the therapist will rest their hands on (or above) various parts of your body. The hand positions are designed to cover three main areas: your major organs, your major chakras, and your major meridians (energy pathways). As the energy transfers from the therapist's hands various sensations may be felt , such as a feeling of extreme warmth, coolness, tingling or swirling sensations, these sensations are totally normal and mean that the energy is flowing and the body's energy pathways are unblocking.
Reiki is a complementary therapy that can be used alongside conventional medicine and treatments and can help with both acute and chronic conditions both emotional and physical.
Stone (Hot and Cold) Therapy
Hot stone massage is an ancient practice dating back thousands of years, and involves the use of flat, heated basalt stones. Basalt stones are formed as the result of volcanic activity when the lava cools as it runs down the sides of volcanoes. The stone can withstand extreme heat so it is perfectly suited for hot stone massage and the mineral composition of the stones is said to have a therapeutic effect on the body.
The therapeutic effect of the warmth from the hot stones can help to increase range of movement, reduce pain through the softening of tissue, encourage healing and promote a feeling of comfort and deep relaxation.
Before your treatment, the stones will be warmed to a pleasant and entirely bearable heat in my portable electric stone heater.
As you lie down on the table, I apply light oil to your skin, before oiling the warm stones and then I will gently glide the stones over your body, stopping every now and again to replace the cooled stones with warm ones.
With a typical treatment lasting around 60 to 90 minutes, one session will leave you feeling deeply relaxed. Hot stone massage is thought to be helpful in treating all sorts of conditions such as muscular injuries, aches and pains and fibromyalgia.

Sports Massage Therapy
Sports Massage Therapy isn’t only suitable for athletes it is suitable for anybody that has pain and reduced range of movement.
Each treatment will start with a thorough consultation asking questions about your health and lifestyle followed by visual assessment, palpation and a range of movement assessment. This is then followed by recommendations for a bespoke client centred treatment plan designed to remove pain and increase range of movement. The treatment plan will involve details recommending frequency of treatments, Rest, range of movement and/or strengthening exercises to do at home and Postural advice.
The Sports Massage is delivered using a range of techniques including deep tissue, effleurage, petrissage, wringing, tapotement, massage during joint movement, kneading and trigger point work. Although deep tissue techniques are used, I always work within the individual’s comfort levels and needs, checking in with the client during the massage to avoid unnecessary pain. The “no pain, no gain” approach to massage is outdated because with this approach, the muscles naturally tense when in pain which is counterproductive to the treatment. The techniques which I use are precise and targeted without the need to cause significant pain in order to be effective.

I was visiting the area to see friends and was recommended to see Nouyou, so I booked a relaxing hot stone massage with Vicky and I’m pleased I did.

I have had a long ongoing injury in my top leg/hip area that has caused me pain and discomfort over many years. I have visited my GP been referred for MRIs and X-rays… no diagnosis given.. I’ve seen physiotherapists given exercises to complete which I did religiously.. seen chiropractors and osteopaths.. the list is exhausting and expensive and gave little relief…
For the last few months I’ve been treated by Vicky.. she has taken time to listen to me and worked on the painful area and surrounding parts of my body that have over the years taken the toll and needed to be managed
…The relief I’ve experienced from Vicky’s massage has been ‘life changing’ for me…I’m almost pain free and my mobility has improved significantly
…I can’t thank you enough Vicky and look forward to your next visit
